Fortress of Louisbourg |
|
HISTORIC BACKGROUND
A soldier of the Campagnie Franches de la Marine stands guard at the Dauphin Gate, the main entrance by land to the Fortress of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia.
To this day, guards remain wary of British spies. Woe to the modern day visitor who presents himself without an adequate reason to enter the fortress, or whose British allegiance is revealed in her red attire.
